An Eater’s Manifesto

Michael Pollan (The Omnivore’s Dilemma) has come out with a new book: In Defense of Food: An Eater’s Manifesto. I am waiting to get it from the library, so I just read the introduction to pacify myself in the meantime. From the intro:

We are entering a postindustrial era of food; for the first time in a generation it is possible to leave behind the Western diet without having also to leave behind civilization. And the more eaters who vote with their forks for a different kind of food, the more commonplace and accessible such food will become.

He wrote the book in response to many people asking, after having read The Omnivore’s Dilemma, “So, what do I eat then?” A PDF of the intro to In Defense of Food is available on Pollan’s web site.
