This time of year I love to simmer potpourri on the stove top. It’s very easy to do and I would love to spread the comforting smells from my home to yours!
I use an old saucepan that is not suitable for cooking food because the nonstick coating is flaky. Since all the ingredients are natural and edible, you don’t necessarily have to use a non-food saucepan. Your call.
:: cinnamon sticks
:: whole cloves
:: citrus peel
Put a few of each of the ingredients in the pan and cover with water. Bring to a soft boil and reduce the heat. You’ll just need to keep an eye on it so you can add more water as it evaporates. The steam has the added bonus of putting some moisture into the air. Just keep adding water and the potpourri can be used over and over again. Now, curl up with a book and relax!
